United Hammered

West Ham 1 - 0 Manchester United

What a great result this was for the home side, and for Alan Curbishley's first game in charge.

United were the busiest initially with Giggs, Rooney, and Carrick all having chances without scoring. Perhaps they were unnerved by Chelsea's win at Everton earlier in the day. Saha was also active, but it was Edwin van der Sar at the other end, who had most to do to keep a long ball from Spector out.

After the interval Ronaldo could easily have put United ahead, but his best efforts were saved by on form keeper Robert Green. Then with fifteen minutes to go Skipper Reo-Coker bagged what proved to be the winner, when he met Harewood's cross and forced it home.

Managers Alan Curbishley and Jose Mourinho got early Christmas boxes, with the former assisting in cutting United's lead to two points at the top of the Premiership. Things are getting competitive at both ends of the table!
