Mourinho! ho! ho! - It's Christmas

Everton 2 - 3 Chelsea

Everton went ahead after they were awarded a penalty in the 38th minute, when Anichibe was brought down by Boulahrouz. So at the interval Chelsea were a goal behind, with things beginning to look slightly ominous! However, they did not stay that way for long.

Shortly after the interval Michael Ballacks superb curling shot went in off Howards back which must have started Mourinho's Christmas chuckles, at Alec Ferguson's expense, as Howard is on loan from United! Everton were not done with though, and in the 64th minute Yobo put them in front again, from Arteta's corner. Chelsea were leaving it late, but Frank Lampard got a beauty of an equaliser in the 81st minute, when he powered in a 20 yard shot. A draw, with the points shared, then seemed most likely.

Then the incredible Drogba exploded into action and got the winner in the 87th minute. In a neat move, Hilario pushed the ball forward to substitute Shevchenko, who headed it on towards the Ivorian. He fired in a powerful volley from around 40 yards out, and clinched the game for Chelsea

Jose Mourinho was obviously delighted as he pranced and chuckled down the touchline, knowing full well that United had been hammered elsewhere, and that his team were now only two points adrift. It must have seemed that Christmas had come early!
