The Missing Link

Wigan 0 - 1 Arsenal

Although Arsenal took maximum points they were uninspiring, and there seems to be something missing! Whatever could it be? Actually there are no prizes for guessing correctly because it seems obvious that the missing link is their regular captain Thierry Henry, who has been at the centre of so many fine performances.

In the first half Flamini and Adebayor had chances to put the Gunners ahead. Camara drove a long shot wide for the home side, but at the interval there was no score, which possibly summed up the level of excitement!

Things picked up after the break, but Heskey missed a good chance when he slipped shortly after the start. Arsenal responded through Baptista, and Kirkland had to save for the first time in the match. Adebayor then had a couple of scoring chances, but Arsenal were stopping short and missing their French skipper.

Skoko was active for Wigan firing in shots to test Lehmann. Unsurprisingly though, it was the energetic Adebayor who finally scored, to put Arsenal in front in the 88th minute. They probably just about deserved their win, but on this showing it is difficult to imagine Man United or Chelsea feeling threatened
