Chelsea Drop Another Point

Chelsea 2 - 2 Fulham

In his post match interview Jose Mourinho didn't seem to be too happy with his team's performance, although it is not always easy to tell! It seems that they are missing their captain John Terry, as much for his leadership as for his ability. Joe Cole's absence is becoming protracted, and Ashley Cole's presence seems not to have made up for the transferred Gallas. For all that Chelsea have a wealth of money no object talent, and you would not expect them to be dropping home points!

Surprisingly, for Chelsea at least, Fulham went ahead in the 16th minute when Volz volleyed the ball home from Queudrue's long throw. A long thrower is as asset to any side although some have been slow to develop the technique, which can be as deadly as a corner kick. Fulham could have increased their lead, but it was Chelsea who levelled in the 35th minute, when Lampard's shot went in off Fulham defender Rosenior, who, unfortunately for Frank, was credited with the goal!

Mourinho substituted Shevchenko for Gemini in the 57th minute. Shortly afterwards the deadly Drogba headed home from Lampard's cross, to put his side ahead. Chelsea might reasonably have expected to win but the determined Fulham levelled the score when Bocanegra equalised from close range.
