Second Helpings!

Liverpool 4 - 0 Fulham

It seemed that Liverpool saved themselves for the second half. In truth they had their chances in the first half, and could easily have gone ahead with Kuyt, Luis Garcia, Riise, and Alfonso all bearing down on goal.

Fulham, who have not won at Anfield for nearly one hundred years, were fortunate not to be behind at the interval. However, things were about to change when after about 54 minutes, Kuyt's shot was handled by Pearce. Gerrard didn't take the penalty as well as expected, but he made no mistake with the rebound, and slammed it home. Seven minutes later Jamie Carragher joined in the fun, getting his first goal for several years! Luis Garcia then made it three goals in only 12 minutes and the game was virtually over.

For good measure, Gonzalez lashed a free kick in from 25 yards in the 90th minute. It was all a bit one sided really, but at home Liverpool are as good as anybody, although they don't always carry it with them when they play away.

Sheik Mohammed's interest in Liverpool AFC might be timely, because their main adversaries are privately owned by highly successful and wealthy businessmen. That seems to make a difference!
