Watford 1 - 4 Man Utd

The three R's, Rooney (2), Ronaldo and Richardson all scored for United, whose endeavours this season have been a sports education, for all who love the game of football. They seem to have it all! A top manager, the best players, welded together to perform as the top team at the top club! At least that is how they appear at the moment with only a chasing Chelsea in any position to dethrone them.

When either Rooney or Ronaldo are in form the opposition had better watch out, but when they are in form together, as happened here, it can only result in a goal blitz. Age wise they are only 21 and 22, so they seem set to be in place for a long time, to guarantee their own and their clubs good fortune.

Rooney's 7th minute, critic silencing, first goal stamped United authority over Watford, who were better than the eventual result suggested. In fact Bouazza levelled the score in the 26th minute, and a proper cup-tie was under way. Unfortunately for Watford, Rooney came at them again and set up Ronaldo to tap in the second, two minutes after the equaliser.

After the interval Bouazza had the chance to score again, from an easier opportunity. However, he was off target and a rejuvenated Alan Smith crossed the ball for Rooney to bag his second in the 66th minute. By the time Kieron Richardson knocked in United's fourth, from another Alan Smith delivery, Watford were looking tired. They had tried very hard, but succumbed gallantly to a side that is proving very hard to beat - anywhere!
