Chelsea Win At Old Trafford

Blackburn 1 - 2 Chelsea

Talk about a thriller in Manila! Chelsea would be just as delighted with this win on unfamiliar territory, as if they had beaten the regular inhabitants of Old Trafford! It turned out to be a hard fought win against spirited opponents.

Lampard, fittingly put his side ahead after 16 minutes. Cech had started the move, finding Drogba with a long goal kick. He passed to Ballack, who found Lampard to drive Chelsea in front. Unfortunately for Blackburn, Petr Cech was again in brilliant form, denying Dunn just before half time, when they could easily have levelled.

Drogba set up, in and out Shevchenko but he missed a sitter. Roberts finally beat the acrobatic Cech in the 68th minute, to level the scores. The keeper had made brilliant saves to keep Chelsea in front, but Blackburn now seemed to be getting the better of them. Chelsea were hanging on and were saved by the bell after 90 minutes.

Chelsea are a team you can never write off. They never give up and the harder it gets the more dangerous they become. Sure enough, in the second period of extra time and against the run of play Ballack scored the winner, to ensure the Blues participation in the FA Cup Final at Wembley, on the 19th May.
