Chelsea 1 - 0 Tottenham

Portugal's Ricardo Carvalho, intervened in the 52nd minute, to score the only goal of the match, and assist fellow countryman Jose Mourinho, in his quest to remain at the top of the Premiership. Carvalho's strike, from about 35 yards out, easily beat England goalkeeper Paul Robinson to shoot Chelsea ahead. It was to prove even more vital later on, as league leaders Manchester United succumbed to Portsmouth. Mourinho was quick to praise central defender Carvalho, for a fine goal and an unbelievable season.

Tottenham were not underdogs, but they could not beat Petr Cech who once again made a series of fine saves, including good efforts by Mido, Berbatov and Taarabt. The Chelsea keeper has been as good as ever, since sustaining a serious head injury. Wearing his now familiar trade mark helmet, he has been a revelation in frustrating opposition strikers.

Although United remain favourites to win the Premiership, it is possible that their match against Chelsea on the 9th May could decide!
