West Brom 0 - 3 WonderHull City

To say that newly promoted Hull have had a wonderful start in the Premiership is almost an understatement. After hammering West Brom, they are up there at the top of the Premier League with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, and what's more they fully deserve it. Twenty points from ten matches says it all, and just goes to show what new boys can achieve with the right approach, even against teams with enormous spending power, in transfer markets.

As far as this match is concerned Zayatte struck a perfect volley to shoot Hull ahead just after the interval. You might have thought that they would have all on to hold onto a slender lead. But they were having none of it and went two up fifteen minutes later, when Brazilian Geovanni headed home from a brilliant Marlon King flick. Now the game really did look firmly in the visitors hands, but for good measure King bagged a third in the 66th minute, and it was becoming embarrassing for the home side.

It must be said that until the break through after the interval the game was well balanced with West Brom at least holding their own. The first goal was vital and beautifully taken by Zayette. After that it was 'one way traffic' as Hull continued their amazing run, which must be the story of the season so far. There are not many people who do not like to see underdogs doing well, except perhaps those teams who have been beaten by them. Hull City have created something to build on, and shown that in football, as well as elsewhere, team spirit is the vital ingredient.
