Chelsea Without Mourinho - Still Sixy!

Chelsea 6 - 0 Manchester City

It would have been impossible to predict a win of this magnitude, over the class side that has been doing so well, since they were joined by the ex England manager. However, at the end, Sven had nearly as many excuses for his side's poor showing, as Chelsea had goals. In fact he gave eleven reasons, thereby holding his whole team responsible, and obviously believed this was an off day for his whole side, who, it must be said, are much better than the result suggests.

Sven's comments should not detract from the splendid show put on by his side's opponents. It was goals all the way for the home side, with Frank Lampard returning to form as the great provider. It was Frank, who set up Essien for Chelsea's first goal after 16 minutes. Then he spotted Drogba, and set him up for a well-taken goal, after 31 minutes.

City managed to hold Chelsea at bay for ten minutes after the restart, before they piled on the pressure again. Hart kept out Lampard's shot, only for Drogba to drive home his second goal after 56 minutes. Then Joe Cole joined in the fun, to score just four minutes later.

It was looking very grim for City, but it became even grimmer! Essien was knocking the ball about, similar to Lampard, and setup first Kalou in the 75th minute and then Shevchenko in the 90th, to make it six goals for Chelsea.

The Blues were very impressive, and seem to be well on their way to recovering from losing 'The Chosen One'. After the lull, they are having to play catch up, but they have the skills - and the money - to do so!
